SHOW TEAM AND IEA

IEA is an interscholastic equestrian association that is open to riders in grades 4th-12th. All horses and tack are assembled for all competition by the host team(s). Two Hunt
Seat Classes are offered: Equitation on the flat and over fences.

There are 4 ability levels for flat classes and 3 ability levels for over fences.

IEA gives riders the opportunity to compete individually as well as on a team. High point riders are assigned before competitions to earn the team points. Points are then tallied by the placings to distinguish Champion and Reserve Champion Teams at each show. Riders and teams have the opportunity to advance to regionals, zones and then finals post show season. West Texas Equestrians have had youth riders advance to regionals and zones. We look forward to getting to finals in the future!

IEA now offers an Adult Pilot Program for adults 21 years of age and older. West Texas Equestrians has a strong adult team that has a rider going to Nationals 2024.
Showing allows Flat Oak Equestrian students to gain more experience in the ring, build confidence, learn where improvements can be made, and move them up to the next level all while in the company of their peers. Riders get to compete at local shows, non rated shows, and Rated Shows. We insist our riders demonstrate sportsmanship in the barn, in the ring, and at shows. The horses, trainers, judges, rules, opponents, and teammates all deserve respect. Sportsmanlike competitors recognize and appreciate a well prepared, challenging opponent who can bring out the best in them. All riders should be recognized for their hard work and dedication rather than only focusing on winning a blue ribbon. Most of all our team is built on safety, fun, and friendship!
